Governor's visit

The Lead Alliance was honoured to welcome the Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland during her visit to our North West Outback.

Her Excellency, who is the Patron of the Lead Alliance, attended a Living Safely with Lead Education at Happy Valley State School with the prep and year one students. Our Chair for Lead Alliance MP Robbie Katter, kindly introduced Her Excellency with a brief speech on her role as Governor of Queensland.

Her Excellency spoke briefly with the students, “This is my first visit as Governor and I’m delighted to be here, I have always enjoyed coming to Mount Isa over the years.” The presentation was hosted with Captain LeadSmart, Louis Johnson and Dr Kevin Num Num with educating the students on eating healthy, the importance on hand washing and Lead Awareness.

Following this, Her Excellency presented each student with a gold coin comprised with the Union Jack with a white roundel in the centre featuring the Badge of the State of Queensland, a light blue Maltese Cross, surmounted by a Royal Crown and a garland of laurel leaves.

It was a whole-hearted morning to have the Governor attend Happy Valley State School and partake in the education assembly within her patronage organisation.

Attendees were MP Robbie Katter, Mayor Danielle Slade, Councillor Kim Coghlan and George Fortune.
