A: No referral is required.
A: No appointment is required, however you can the Lead Testing Locations to ensure pediatric collectors (if required) are available.
A: Blood testing for lead is FREE for all Mount Isa residents.
A: Depending on the result of the first test, if your child has an elevated blood lead level over 5µg/dl, a follow up test is recommended for 6 months after the initial test and preventions are put in place.
A: You need to refer the results to your GP at QML, he will give you the results.
A: QML will ask you for the name of your GP who will be sent your results, given these are results from pathology tests your doctor will be able to provide you with these and address any questions on the results that you may have.
A: You will be contacted by Queensland Health – Public Health Unit Mount Isa, who will give you information and assist you to reduce the blood lead level in your children. You can also contact The Lead Alliance FREE CALL 1800 457 547, we will also give you the information and assistance you need to reduce the risk of elevated blood lead levels. A follow up test is recommended six months after the first test to monitor blood lead levels.
